Rhyl is a seaside town located on the Irish Sea, with a population of roughly 26,000 in the county of Denbighshire, at the mouth of the River Clwyd. Once an elegant Victorian resort, since improved due to a series of regeneration projects including the 2008 Ocean Plaza. Extensive sandy beaches and excellent rail and road links. The railway station has through trains to and from London, Crewe, Holyhead and Manchester. Rhyl's current top attractions are the 250 foot high Sky Tower, Children's Village theme park, Sea Quarium and the popular SunCentre - an indoor leisure swimming pool featuring an indoor monorail, as well as Europe's first indoor surfing pool, the New Pavillion Theatre, the Little Theatre and multi-screen Cinema . Water sports at Marine Lake and the yatch club at the Foryd Road Harbour. There are numerous schools including Rhyl College, a satellite site of Llandrillo College, a wealth of sports and recreational facilities and organisations. Links golf course and Sustrans cycle route is along seven spectacular miles. The best part of every family seaside town is a safe, clean beach for the children. Rhyl offers three miles of golden sands. Records show that Rhyl and Prestatyn summers are hotter and sunnier than the UK average. The shopping centre is supported by many High Street retailers, numerous restaurants, partly pedestrianised and monitored by CCTV. Outskirts of Chester or Snowdonia can be reached by car in just over 30 minutes, Manchester or Liverpool in just over an hour. |
